Why assess the risk

When a powered gate is installed a working machine is immediately created; with this in mind, it is essential to consider all health and safety regulations and complete a full risk assessment.

In recent years, failure to fully evaluate trapping points led to fatalities that shocked the gate industry.

Safety Guidance

Whilst the subject of gate safety is vast, EN12453 and EN1445 are two key standards and give guidance on risk and the impact forces allowable for gates.

To gain a greater insight into gate safety we recomend viewing 2 documents by the UNAC, which is a European safety body:

In the UK the HSE have issued 3 warnings regarding gate safety; these bulletins can be found below:

NB  Existing gates must also be upgraded to meet the latest safety regulations.
